President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that the US and Iran were “actually getting along with them very well right now” following American strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, which he asserted ended the 12-day Iran-Israel war. He controversially likened the impact of these strikes to the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Trump argued that the “hell” Iran endured during the conflict, largely due to the US military action, had forced them to abandon their nuclear weapons ambitions. He publicly disputed intelligence assessments that found a limited impact of the strikes, asserting the complete destruction of Iran’s nuclear facilities.

The conflict began with Israel’s bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities, citing concerns about a nuclear weapons program. Iran consistently denied such intentions, maintaining its program was for peaceful energy. The 12-day conflict resulted in extensive damage and casualties.

A ceasefire, which Trump reportedly brokered, was in effect. Trump’s statements offer a unique perspective on the aftermath of military action and subsequent diplomatic relations.
