Tom Holland and Spider-Man have rewritten the record books before their latest film has even been released. Brand New Day’s trailer, released on March 17, became the first movie trailer in history to cross one billion views — reaching this staggering total in just four days. No other film promotion has ever generated anything close to this level of engagement.

Brand New Day is the fourth entry in the MCU Spider-Man series and part of Phase Six. Set four years after No Way Home, it follows a Peter Parker who is completely invisible to the world — not just unknown as Spider-Man, but forgotten as a person entirely. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the film promises an emotionally intense continuation of the beloved saga.

WaveMetrix data confirmed the trailer exceeded 1.1 billion views by Tuesday. Its first-day viewership of 718.6 million obliterated all previous records, including Deadpool & Wolverine’s 365 million, No Way Home’s 355.5 million, and GTA VI’s cross-industry high of 475 million views. Brand New Day’s numbers represent a completely new tier of trailer performance.

The fan response to the trailer has been enormous and deeply heartfelt. Viral posts, fan art, and emotional reaction videos flooded every major social platform within hours of the trailer dropping. The film’s fan-generated alternate titles — including “Spider-Man: Far from Okay” — became globally recognized phrases that reflected the emotional depth audiences saw in the footage.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film stars Tom Holland alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. Brand New Day opens on July 31 and will screen in India in six languages in all premium formats. Following No Way Home’s $1.9 billion global gross, the new film is already being viewed as a potential record-breaker at the box office.
