Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has voiced strong opposition to the United States’ sanctions against International Criminal Court (ICC) President Tomoko Akane, stating that these measures clash with Japan’s dedication to upholding the rule of law. The Japanese leader emphasized that her government had consistently advised the U.S. against implementing such sanctions, highlighting Japan’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad.
In response to the sanctions, Japan has undertaken various actions to mitigate their effects on Akane, including offering assistance concerning financial transactions. Takaichi underlined that Japan’s efforts are aimed at minimizing the repercussions of the sanctions and ensuring that Akane receives necessary support.
