The commitment was solidified during a meeting in Hà Nội between Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Phan Văn Giang and General Uchikura Hiroaki, Chief of Staff of Japan’s Self-Defence Forces.
Throughout their discussions, the two military leaders explored methods to bolster bilateral defense ties and better implement existing cooperation agreements. General Giang underscored Việt Nam’s dedication to strengthening consultation and dialogue mechanisms, expanding inter-military branch cooperation, and fostering collaboration in defense technology, military medicine, and cybersecurity. He emphasized that defense relations have become a crucial component of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
