Hamas has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of committing a “clear violation” of the ceasefire after an Israeli strike hit the Nuseirat camp. The group said the move was aimed at “undermining Trump’s peace efforts.”
The strike, which Israel said targeted Islamic Jihad militants, is the second in a week, shaking the fragile truce.
As this accusation hangs in the air, Netanyahu is making his own moves to control Gaza’s future. He declared Sunday that Israel will have a full veto over the international peacekeeping force.
“Israel will determine which forces are unacceptable to us,” Netanyahu stated, a position he claims the United States supports. He has already used this to signal a block on Turkey.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, visiting Israel, backed this, stating the force must be “comfortable” for Israel and that Hamas must be excluded from power.
